CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia’s Katie Tracy (Richmond, Va./ James River High School), co-captain of the women’s soccer team, was selected to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District III Women’s University At-Large Team. Tracy started at midfield for the soccer team, which advanced to the third round of the 2000 NCAA Tournament.
Tracy has compiled a 3.86 overall grade point average while double majoring in Psychology and Elementary Education at UVa. She scored 18 goals and 13 assists during her career at Virginia and started every one of the 84 games that she played in during her four years as a Cavalier. In 2000, Tracy started all of the team’s 20 games and led the team in minutes played. Tracy is a three-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Region selection, and was a Second-Team All-ACC pick in 2000. She was a member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll for 1998, 1999 and 2000.
Tracy also served as co-captain of the women’s basketball team. She played in 26 games with the Cavaliers during the 2000-01 season. She is currently training with the New York Power of the Women’s United Soccer Association.
Tracy will now be considered for the Verizon Academic All-America Team, which will be named later this year.
