Three Cavaliers competed in the USA National Track and Field Championships this weekend at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Former distance standout and current assistant coach Dana Coons competed in the 10,000-meter run where she took sevent h overall in a time of 33:30.44. Her former teammate Dawn Cleary (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge), the school record holder in the steeplechase, took 10th in that event, running 10:23.20. Virginia’s John Welch (Upper St. Clair, Pa./Upper St. Clair), the ACC Champion in the javelin, finished 14th overall, tossing 70.05m (229′ 10???)
