Jerton Evans Named ACC Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia’s Jerton Evans has been selected as an Atlantic Coast Conference football Player of the Week, ACC officials announced on Monday.

The senior safety made a season-high 12 tackles in Virginia’s win at Duke. Eight of his 12 tackles were solo stops. Evans also broke up a pass and had a tackle for loss of three yards on third down for the day.

The ACC honor is the first of his career.

Riding a four-game winning streak, Virginia (4-2, 2-1 ACC) hosts Clemson (3-2, 1-1 ACC) on Saturday, Oct. 12. Kickoff is set for Noon. The contest will be televised nationally by ESPN2.
