GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia’s Marquis Weeks has been selected as an Atlantic Coast Conference football Player of the Week, ACC officials announced on Monday.

As a member of the special teams, the sophomore from Berwyn, Pa., returned three kickoffs for a school record 172 yards, highlighted by his school record 100-yard return to open the third quarter and give UVa its first touchdown in the come-from-behind win over North Carolina. He also had returns of 33 and 39 yards. His 100-yard return and 172 return yards are both top figures in the ACC this season. Additional, he made two tackles on kickoff coverage, as the Cavaliers held North Carolina inside the 22-yard line on six of seven kickoffs.

The ACC honor is the first of his career.

Riding a six-game winning streak, Virginia (6-2, 4-1 ACC) travels to Georgia Tech (4-3, 1-3 ACC) on Saturday, Oct. 26. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m and will be televised by ABC-TV.
