Men’s Basketball Falls At Florida State, 73-59

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Tim Pickett posted a career-high 32 points andgrabbed 11 rebounds to lead Florida State over Virginia 73-59 on Saturday.

Pickett recorded more points than the Seminoles’ next three scorerscombined. The junior guard, who notched his third double-double, sank six3-pointers and had a team-high three steals.

Todd Billet’s 19 points led Virginia (14-13, 5-9), which lost its sixthstraight game. Jason Clark added 11 and Devin Smith 8.

Michael Joiner added 15, Anthony Richardson scored 9 and Trevor Harvey 6 forFlorida State (13-13, 4-11), which routed Virginia despite trailing 37-34 athalftime.

Poor shooting killed the Cavaliers: They shot 2-for-12 from the field(0-for-5 on 3s) in the first 8 1/2 minutes after the break and scored just 4points in the first 11 minutes of the second half.

Florida State, meanwhile, opened the second half with 9 unanswered points,kicking off a 24-6 run that left the Cavaliers behind 58-43 with 8:31 to play.

Pickett started off 1-for-7 shooting from the field but was dead-onafterward, shooting 8-for-11 for the remainder. He was perfect from the line(8-for-8).
