Virginia’s Eliese Mitchell and Ellen Dwyer both turned in season-best performances at the Alex Wilson Invitational, held at Notre Dame today. Mitchell improved her weight mark by almost a meter en route to a fourth-place finish with a toss of 19.67m (64′ 6.5″). Ellen Dwyer shaved time off her 5K performance, breaking 16:40 with a 16:39.97, good enough for seventh at the meet. Mitchell’s throw ranks among the top-12 in the nation.
Both Mitchell and Dwyer, along with teammate Kiamesha Otey await bids to the NCAA Championships, which will take place March 14-15 in Fayetteville, Ark. Bids will be extended on March 10.
