CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia softball team opens the home portion of its 2003 season by hosting Bowling Green for a single game on Thursday (March 13) at The Park. UVa will then host Bowling Green, Seton Hall and Stony Brook in the Cavalier Classic Friday through Sunday, March 14-16. The Cavalier Classic will feature round-robin doubleheaders each day of the tournament with games being played on two different fields at The Park.
Thursday’s single game against Bowling Green will begin at 3:30 p.m. The game is a recent addition to the schedule as both schools have lost a number of games already this season due to inclement weather.
Virginia opens the Cavalier Classic on Friday (March 14) by hosting Stony Brook in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. Bowling Green and Seton Hall play a doubleheader starting at noon. On Saturday, the Cavaliers square off against Seton Hall at 1:00 p.m. with Bowling Green taking on Stony Brook at noon. In the final day of the tourney on Sunday, Virginia will play a doubleheader against Bowling Green at 11:00 a.m., while Seton Hall and Stony Brook begin their twinbill at noon.
The Cavaliers stand at 10-11 on the season and won the 49er Invitational last weekend in Charlotte, N.C. Bowling Green is 6-4-1 in 2003. Stony Brook is 3-5, while Seton Hall is 2-2 this season.
