TALLAHASSEE, FLA – The No. 21 ranked Virginia men’s tennis team concluded a three-match trip to Tallahassee by defeating Stetson 6-0 on Sunday. The Cavaliers are now 18-3 on the season.
The Cavaliers and the Hatters only played the six singles matches, which the Cavaliers swept. Doug Stewart (Malibu, Calif.), Michael Duquette (Virginia Beach, Va.), Stephen Rozek (Chadron, Ohio), Nick Meythaler (Owensboro, Ky.) and Darrin Cohen (Lafayette, Calif.) all won in straight sets for UVa, while Rylan Rizza (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) won in three sets.
“After a tough loss yesterday to Florida State, I was pleased with how we responded today,” stated Virginia head coach Brian Boland. “We played with focus today and hopefully we will continue to do so when we return home this week.”
Virginia will return home for a Wednesday doubleheader against Maryland and Howard. The action at the Snyder Tennis Center begins at 3:00 p.m.
