RALEIGH, NC – The No. 34 ranked Virginia women’s tennis team fell 4-0 in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament Saturday to No. 3 Duke at the Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center. With the loss, the Cavaliers are now 15-9 on the season.

Virginia fell behind early when the Blue Devils captured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The Cavalier team of Henriette Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) and Jennifer Tuchband (Millburn, N.J.) led Duke’s No. 10 ranked team of Kelly McCain and Hillary Adams 7-3 when the match was stopped. In singles, the Blue Devils and Cavaliers played close, tight matches on all courts, but the Blue Devils won the first three that finished to clinch the match.

“I am really proud of how we played today,” stated Virginia head coach Phil Rogers. “We gave Duke a fight today and I think it is showing that we are closing the gap between us and the No. 3 team in the country.”

The Cavaliers will now await a possible NCAA Tournament bid. The selections for the 64 team field will be made on April 30.
