CHICAGO, Ill. – Virginia women’s golf coach Jan Mann has been selected to coach the U.S. team for the 2003 Fuji Xerox U.S.A. vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) announced.

The 12-member squad, consisting of eight men and four women players, will compete July 15-18 at Verde Sano Country Club in Tochigi, Japan.

The coaches for the U.S. squad are Jack Jensen of Guilford College and Mann. A two-time National Coach of the Year, Jensen has led two teams to national titles, while Mann was named the 2002 Big South Coach of the Year and the first-ever head coach of the Virginia women’s golf program in June of 2002.

UCLA’s Steve Conway, Arkansas’ Andrew Dahl, Jack Ferguson and Matt Hendrix of Clemson, Chico State’s J.J. Jakovac, Tom Johnson of Northwestern, Auburn’s Jay Mundy and Ryan Quinn of Wisconsin-Eau Claire comprise the men’s team.

The women’s team consists of Leigh Ann Hardin and Elizabeth Janangelo of Duke, UCLA’s Charlotte Mayorkas and Texas’ Jessica Reese.

The U.S. team leads the all-time series, 20-7, and has won seven straight.
