CHARLOTTESVILLE-The University of Virginia women’s rowing team returns to action on Saturday (April 26) when the Cavaliers compete against Harvard, Yale and Texas in Boston, Mass. UVa will compete against Harvard and Yale beginning at 7:00 a.m. and against Texas at 7:00 p.m.
Crews will compete in the first varsity eight, the second varsity eight, the first varsity four, the second varsity four, the first novice eight and the second novice eight. Harvard’s first varsity eight crew is currently ranked third in the nation, while Yale is ranked ninth, Virginia 13th and Texas 19th.
The Cavaliers won the Atlantic Coast Conference championship for the fourth consecutive year last Saturday (April 19) at Lake Monticello. UVa’s Kevin Sauer was named the ACC Coach of the Year and Virginia’s first varsity eight crew was recognized as the ACC’s 2003 Crew of the Year. The Cavaliers’ Molly Baker, Julie McQueen, Jen Reck and Betty Shumaker were named to the 2003 All-ACC team.
