The University Virginia women’s lacrosse team earned academic distinction and four members of the squad were also honored for outstanding academic work as announced by the organization. The team as a whole was named an Academic Squad by the IWLCA by virtue of a team GPA above 3.00, and team captains Lauren Aumiller, Lauri Kenis, Tiffany Schummer and fellow fourth-year Lindsay Buchanan were all named to the Honor Roll.
Aumiller, who was named to the Verizon Academic All American University Division Women’s At Large Third Team earlier in the month, earns her second consecutive stint on the Honor Roll, as does Lindsay Buchanan. Aumiller and Buchanan were both economics majors and will be working for Goldman Sachs in the upcoming months. Aumiller was named the Warrior/Inside Lacrosse National Midfielder of the Year for the second year in a row in 2003.
Kenis and Schummer both competed this season as graduate students after having taken their degrees in 2002. This is the first such honor for both players. They were both named as first team All-Americans in 2003 and Schummer earned National Defender of the Year honors by Inside Lacrosse this year as well.
