Baltimore, Md. – Virginia midfielder Kyle Dixon will replace midfielder Joe Boulukos on the 2003 U.S. Men’s Under-19 Team, as announced Wednesday by head coach Bob Shriver. Boulukos suffered an injury in an exhibition game June 21.
Dixon played in 17 games as a freshman for the NCAA champion Cavaliers this past season, scoring 17 points on nine goals and eight assists. He was an all-state honoree and three-time team MVP at Archbishop Spalding (Md.) High School. He participated in the U-19 team tryouts June 11-14, 2002, at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
Boulukos started seven of 13 games played as a freshman at Cornell. He scored 14 points on 12 goals and two assists. He was a 2002 All-American at Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.) High School.
The 2003 Men’s and Women’s Under-19 World Championships are being held at the same site for the first time and begin Thursday at Towson University. The event will feature 50 games over 10 days, concluding with Championship Saturday, July 5.
The U.S. men’s team has won each of the four championships. Among the teams that will vie for the fifth U-19 World Championship include Australia, Canada, England, Germany, the Iroquois Nation, Japan, South Korea, the United States, and Wales.
Tickets to the 2003 Under-19 World Championships are available by calling the Towson University box office at 410.704.2244 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, or at the stadium on gameday.

Friday, June 27 vs. Australia, 8 p.m.
Saturday, June 28 vs. Canada, 5 p.m.
