Greensboro, Ga. – The Virginia Cavaliers are predicted to finish fourth during the 2003 football season, according to the media representatives in attendance at the ACC Football Kickoff on Monday at the Ritz-Carlton Plantation in Greensboro, Ga.
From the 84 ballots received, defending champion Florida State earned top billing with 672 points, including 35 first-place votes. N.C. State followed by eight points (664), while Maryland was third with 607 points.
Virginia received five first-place votes for 570 points total.
The fourth-place prediction is the Cavaliers’ highest since they were picked to finish third in 2000. Last season UVa stymied the pickers by finishing second after being chosen eighth.
The Cavaliers kickoff the 2003 season at home on Aug. 30 against Duke at 7 p.m.
