CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia men’s soccer team will kick-off the exhibition portion of its 2003 season on Tuesday, August 19th when Virginia hosts the Old Dominion Monarchs in a preseason match. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM and will be played at Kl?ckner Stadium. UVa’s contest with ODU is the first of two home exhibition matches scheduled for the Cavaliers in Charlottesville. Virginia will also host the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday, August 23rd at 7:00 PM. Both exhibition contests are free of charge.
UVa will begin the regular season portion of its 2003 schedule when the Cavaliers host the 2003 Virginia Soccer Classic Tournament on August 29-31. Joining Virginia in the four-team tournament field will be the Akron Zips, the Saint Louis Billikens and the Seton Hall Pirates. On Friday, August 29th, the tournament will get underway with Akron facing Saint Louis at 5:00 PM before UVa takes on Seton Hall at 7:30 PM. On Sunday, August 31st, the Zips will face the Pirates at noon before the Cavaliers meet the Billikens at 2:30 PM. All four matches of the tournament will be played at UVa’s Kl?ckner Stadium.
