Virginia Men’s Soccer Ranked #14 in the 2003 NSCAA/Adidas Preseason Poll

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia men’s soccer team was ranked #14 in the nation according to the 2003 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Adidas Coaches Preseason Poll. The Cavaliers finished ranked tied for #19 in the country last year in the final 2002 NSCAA/Adidas Coaches Poll.

UVa is scheduled to play seven teams from the 25 squads listed in the poll during the 2003 season, including three of the top four teams in the rankings (#1 UCLA, #2 Maryland and #4 Wake Forest). The Cavaliers will also face #9 Clemson, #11 Saint Louis, #19 North Carolina and #22 VCU to round out UVa’s opponents from the poll. Another team Virginia will face in the regular season, William & Mary, received votes in the poll. UVa will also face Old Dominion, another squad that received votes, in an exhibition contest. In all, five of the nine teams from the ACC were ranked in the poll and four teams from the state of Virginia (UVa, VCU, W&M, ODU) were either ranked or received votes.
