#14/#19 UVa Men’s Soccer Set To Host The 2003 Virginia Soccer Classic

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The #14/#19 ranked University of Virginia men’s soccer team will host the 2003 Virginia Soccer Classic on August 29th and 31st. UVa will be joined in the four-team tournament field by the #11/#13 ranked Saint Louis Billikens, the Akron Zips and the Seton Hall Pirates. All four matches will be played at Kl?ckner Stadium.

The 2003 Virginia Soccer Classic will begin with a match between Akron and Saint Louis on Friday, August 29th at 5:00 PM before Virginia meets Seton Hall at 7:30 PM. The Cavaliers’ match with the Pirates will be Virginia’s season-opening contest. On Sunday, August 31st, Akron will face Seton Hall at noon before UVa and SLU meet at 2:30 PM in the final match of the tournament.

This 2003 season marks the fifth consecutive year the Cavaliers will host the Virginia Soccer Classic (1999-present). Prior to the Virginia Soccer Classic, UVa hosted the Coca-Cola Classic from 1985-1998. The 2003 Virginia Soccer Classic marks the 19th consecutive year the Cavaliers will host a soccer tournament in Charlottesville. UVa stands 28-4-4 (.833) all-time during that time span in tournament play in both tournaments, including a record of 6-1-1 (.813) in the Virginia Soccer Classic.
