CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) – Virginia quarterback Matt Schaub injured hisright shoulder Saturday night when he was sacked on the Cavaliers’ first driveagainst Duke.

Schaub, the 2002 ACC player of the year when he threw 28 touchdown passes, was sacked by the Blue Devils’ DeAndre White when he went back to pass onsecond-and-goal from the Blue Devils’ 1 yard-line.

He remained in the game, handing off to Alvin Pearman for a 4-yard run andthen holding for Connor Hughes’ 26-yard field goal, but went to the bench andwas attended to by several members of the training staff.

Schaub spent much of the rest of the half sitting with a towel over his headand a huge ice pack strapped to his throwing shoulder. The team did not specifyhis injury and said only that his return was questionable.

Backup Anthony Martinez was incomplete on his first four attempts beforecompleting a 39-yard pass to Art Thomas. The strike set up Wali Lundy’s 2-yardrun that gave Virginia a 10-0 lead 11:58 before halftime.
