Virginia cross country runner Will Christian, who won the Lou Onesty Invitational last weekend, was named the ACC Runner of the Week by the conference office today. This honor is the first such designation for Christian and the first for a Cavalier harrier in 2003.
Christian, who ran a 24:28.90 over the 8K course, defeated a number of All-Americans en route to the individual medal. The Great Falls, Md. native finished seven seconds in front of Duke’s Michael Hatch, who earned All-ACC honors in 2003. The Cavaliers took third overall behind Duke and #15 William and Mary. Duke raced a pair of All-Conference athletes from the 2002 ACC championships.
Christian earned All-Regional honors in 2002, finishing 22nd at the NCAA Southeast Regional.
