NASHVILLE, TN – The Virginia men’s golf team shot a 307 (+23) in the final round of the Mason Rudolph Collegiate on Tuesday for a total score of 606 (+38) and a 16th place finish.
Sophomore Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) shot a 76 (+5) to give him a total of 146 (+4) and a tie for 21st. Sophomore Craig Cook-Stevenson (Sutton-Coldfield, Eng.) tied for 49th with a two-day score of 151 (+9). Freshman Dan McGurk (Woodlands, Texas) came in with a 155 (+13) for the tournament, putting him in a tie for 68th. Sophomore Eamonn McLoughlin (Amityville, N.Y.) added a score of 157 (+15) to tie for 72nd, and senior Jeremy Luce (Austin, Texas) rounded out the scoring with a 158 (+8) to tie for 78th.
Alabama-Birmingham held its first-round lead to win the tournament with a total score of 563 (-5). Texas A&M rallied its way into second at 577 (+9). South Carolina rounded out the top three with a score of 580 (+12). UAB’s Chris Cousins and Texas A&M’s Stephen Reed tied at 136 (-6) to take medallist honors. First-round leader Garrett Osborn of UAB wound up in third at 138 (-4).
The Virginia men’s golf team will return to action Oct. 3-5 at the Franklin Street Trust Invite in Chapel Hill, NC.
