The University of Virginia men’s cross country team was ranked 15th in the latest Mondo Men’s Cross Country Poll, released September 29th. This is the highest ranking for the men’s program since the Cavaliers finished fifth at the NCAA Championships in 1984.
The Cavaliiers are led by Will Christian, who has earned two ACC Runner of the Week accolades in 2003. He has been the top finisher for the Cavaliers in both meets this season, and at the Great American Cross Country Festival on September 26, he was the first ACC runner across the line in 6th place. Teammate Walt Kingsbery was right behind him as Virginia finished fifth overall, upsetting five ranked teams along the way.
Virginia travels to Manassas, Virginia on Saturday, Oct 4 to compete in the George Mason Invitational.
