CHARLOTTESVILLE – The University of Virginia women’s rowing team opens the fall portion of its 2003-04 schedule on Saturday (Oct. 4) at the West Virginia University Head Race in Morgantown, W.Va. Four other schools are scheduled to participate in the competition, including Clemson, Duke, Louisville and West Virginia.
The varsity eight competition is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday followed by the novice eight at 9:00 a.m., the varsity four at 10:00 a.m. and the pair races at noon.
Last spring, Virginia won its fourth consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, won the South Region Championship at the Central/South Region Sprints and finished sixth at the NCAA Championships. UVa is one of just four schools to compete in each of the seven NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships. The Cavaliers have finished among the top seven teams at each of the NCAA Championships.
