Cavaliers Look to Stay “In the Hunt”: Virginia looks to rebound from last week’s overtime loss at Clemson with a two-game homestand beginning this Saturday against No. 7 Florida State.

The Cavaliers are second in the ACC standings with a 3-1 league record, one game behind the Seminoles. Virginia can forge a tie atop the league standings with a victory and remain “in the hunt” for the conference championship.

Virginia seems to still be paying for handing the Seminoles their first ACC loss in 1995. Florida State has won the last seven games since then, including many by convincing margins.

QB Matt Schaub rallied UVa from a 10-0 halftime deficit and take a 17-10 lead against Clemson in the third quarter. The Tigers scored 10 unanswered points to regain the lead, but Alvin Pearman?s one-yard plunge knotted the score at 24 and forced overtime.

Connor Hughes connected on a 33-yard field goal on UVa’s OT possession, but Clemson’s Kevin Youngblood outjumped Jamaine Winborne to haul in a four-yard toss from Charlie Whitehurst to win it for the homestanding Tigers.

The Seminoles saw their five-game winning streak end Saturday with a 22-14 loss at home to Miami.

TELEVISION: Saturday’s game is being televised nationally by ESPN. Ron Franklin calls the play-by-play, while Mike Gottfried provides the color commentary. Adrian Karsten reports from the sidelines.

RADIO: All Virginia games are broadcast on the Virginia Sports Network, originating at WINA/WWWV in Charlottesville. Mac McDonald calls the play-by-play. He is joined in the broadcast booth by former Cavalier great Frank Quayle, the 1968 ACC Player of the Year. Jed Williams reports from the sidelines.

Westwood One is providing nationwide radio coverage. John Tautges is the play-by-play announcer with Fran Curci adding game analysis.
