CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia returns home on Thursday, Jan. 29 to host No. 10/11 North Carolina at 7:30 p.m. at University Hall.
The No. 10/11 Tar Heels, under the guidance of 18th-year head coach Sylvia Hatchell, stand 15-3 overall and 5-2 in ACC play after a 69-67 loss at Wake Forest on Monday. Freshman Camille Little is the team leader with 14.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Freshman Ivory Latta adds 13.7 ppg.
The newly formed Virginia HOOps Band, a 50-member ensemble under the direction of Bill Pease, will make its women’s basketball debut on Thursday, Jan. 29. The group is part of the Virginia Marching Band which will make its debut next fall at the first home football game.
The Cavaliers then visit Wake Forest on Sunday, Feb. 1 for a 4 p.m. game on the Regional Sports Network (Comcast, Fox Sports Net South, Sunshine Network).
The Demon Deacons, under the guidance of seventh-year head coach Charlene Curtis, stand 9-9 overall and 2-5 in the ACC after a 69-67 upset win over No. 10 North Carolina. Liz Strunk is the team leader with 13.6 ppg and 5.1rpg, while Erin Ferrell adds 11.7 ppg. Wake Forest visits Georgia Tech before hosting the Cavaliers.
Virginia, under the guidance of 27th-year head coach Debbie Ryan, stands 9-9 overall and 3-4 in the ACC. Junior Brandi Teamer is the Cavalier leader with 12.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Junior Kate Kreager follows with 9.7 ppg.
