CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia hosts Florida State on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 4 p.m. in University Hall. In celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, all girls aged 18-and-under will be admitted to the game FREE!

The Seminoles, under the guidance of seventh-year head coach Sue Semrau, stand 13-12 overall and 6-8 in the ACC after a 65-55 loss at NC State. Tasheika Allen is the team scoring leader with 13.6 pp, while Shante Williams adds 10.7 ppg.

Virginia, under the guidance of 27th-year head coach Debbie Ryan, stands 12-13 overall and 5-8 in the ACC. Junior Brandi Teamer is the Cavalier leader with 12.0 points per game and 5.8 rpg. Junior LaTonya Blue follows with 9.7 ppg and 5.8 rpg.

“I don’t think I have to motivate my players in any way,” Ryan said following Thursday’s game at Duke. “I think they’re ready to play Florida State on Sunday. We’ll have a great crowd there. They’re not going to stop playing, because something’s not going well for us; that’s not how they are. I have every confidence that they’re going to come out and be tougher than they were tonight. They are very prideful people, and they’re not happy with this either. They’re going to find a way to fix it.”

WINA Radio (1070 AM) broadcasts every game on the radio as well as the UVa website at www.VirginiaSports.com (click on the game schedule).
