WASHINGTON, D.C. – Former Virginia quarterback Aaron Brooks (1994-98) has been named the Humanitarian of the Year Award, the National Quarterback Club announced on Tuesday.

Brooks, who currently plays for the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, will be honored for his outstanding commitment to the community. He will accept the award at the 19th annual National Quarterback Club Awards Dinner on June 29. The event will return to Washington, D.C., for the second straight year to honor many of the nation’s elite quarterbacks. The black-tie gala, which benefits The Boys and Girls Clubs, will be held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Following his playing days at UVa, Brooks was selected in the fourth round (131st selection) by the Green Bay Packers in the 1999 NFL Draft. He was dealt to the New Orleans Saints the following off-season and became their starting quarterback in the middle of 2000 season. The six-year NFL veteran led the Saints to a division title in 2000 and their first-ever play-off victory in franchise history in the same season.
