Charlottesville, Va. – The University of Virginia athletics department announced a new football season ticket sales record today. UVa has sold 36,926 season tickets for the 2004 season, surpassing the previous record of 36,225 season tickets established in 2003.
“The season ticket sales record to date and the fact that we are quickly approaching a sellout, is indicative of the level of excitement surrounding each football game this season,” said Hunter Yurachek, UVa’s associate athletic director for marketing. “In addition to the tremendous home schedule, there are a number of exciting activities encompassing the Virginia football game experience including, the addition of the Cavalier Marching Band and the Cavalier Fan Fest.”
The first season of the marching band will enhance the collegiate gameday experience, as the band and several scheduled guest performers-including the Temptations-entertain Cavalier football fans throughout the season. The Cavalier Fan Fest, that begins three hours prior to each home game, provides a new gameday entertainment experience for fans of all ages. The fan fest area includes a live band, the Wahoo Walk, a pregame pep rally, games for kids, merchandise and food vendors plus much more.
Season tickets, including tickets for all six UVa home football games, are priced at $205. UVa’s 2004 home schedule includes games with North Carolina (Sept. 11), Akron (Sept. 18), Syracuse (Sept. 25), Clemson (Oct. 7, Thursday), Maryland (Nov. 6) and Miami (Nov. 13).
Season tickets can be purchased online at virginiasports.com, by calling the UVa Athletics Ticket Office at 800/542-8821 or 434/924-8821, or by visiting the ticket office in Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium.
