CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia women’s golf team will open its second season at the College of Charleston’s Cougar Fall Classic in September, head coach Jan Mann announced on Tuesday.
The Cavaliers will participate in eight tournaments during the 2004-05 season. UVa will also compete at the 2005 ACC Championship in Charlotte, N.C., in April.
Coming off its inaugural season, Virginia saw action in 10 tournaments, including the ACC Championship. In their first competition swing, the Cavaliers beat intra-state rival Richmond. In tourney action, UVa tackled the nation’s toughest competition. In the fall, Virginia’s highest finish was eighth at the Landfall Tradition. In the spring, the Cavaliers placed seventh at their first ACC Championship. The youthful UVa squad returns six players, including all starters.
