Cavalier Women’s Tennis Announces Five Newcomers

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia women’s tennis head coach Phil Rogers announced the five players who will be joining the program this season. The group includes four first-years, Diana Srebrovic (Oakville, Ont.), Jessica Morais (Lisbon, Portugal), Lindsey Pereira (Austin, Texas), and Rachel Del Priore (Buffalo, N.Y.), along with third-year Douglas Wink (Winston-Salem, N.C.), who transferred from the University of Georgia.

“I am extremely excited about the talent level and excellent depth of this recruiting class,” said Rogers. “Any school in the country would be excited about this class and we are happy about having them here at Virginia. I am most excited and proud of the character and dedication to the team that all of these girls possess. We have really improved our doubles and every position is going to be very competitive.”

Diana Srebrovic

Worth Noting:
• 9 time Canadian National Champion
• Player at Junior US Open & Jr. Australian Open
• 3 Time Canadian Jr. Fed Cup Team squad member
• 2 Time Canadian Fed Cup Squad member

Rogers on Srebrovic: “Diana has had extensive international experience and brings a big time game that will be successful at any level. She has already proven that she can beat some of the best players in the world and I think she will really enjoy playing in the team environment.”

Douglas Wink

Worth Noting:
• 3rd Year transfer from University of Georgia
• 1st Team All-SEC Doubles her freshmen and sophomore year
• Ranked as high as 30 Nationally NCAA doubles and posted a 13-4 singles record
• Finished Junior career ranked in the Top 10 Nationally USTA
• 3rd place singles at International Hard Courts
• Top eight finishes in 2000 at Copper Bowl, Easter Bowl, USTA clay courts and USTA Hard Courts

Rogers on Wink: “Douglas has two years of NCAA experience coming into our team and has proven that she can make a real impact right away. We are especially excited about her doubles skills and she has really displayed a love for the University of Virginia.”

Jessica Morais

Worth Noting:
• Ranked as high as No. 2 in her home country of Portugal
• Extensive International experience
• Several wins over WTA ranked Players

Rogers on Morais: “Jessica brings a great team personality and work ethic to our team. She has played all over the world and has some very impressive results. She will definitely make in impact on our team.”

Lindsey Pereira

Worth Noting:
• Ranked as high as #29 in the Nation and #3 in Texas.
• Member of Texas Fed Cup team
• Nominated for several Leadership and MVP awards at her training grounds the Austin Tennis Academy
• Had a $100,000 Corporate Scholarship named after her for students exemplifying Leadership, Integrity and Work Ethic at Austin Tennis Academy.

Rogers on Pereira: “Lindsey is an excellent athlete with huge amounts of potential. We are really excited about her work ethic and her great personality. She is the type of player that will make a great impact to our team both on and off the court.”

Rachel Del Priore

Worth Noting:
• Ranked as High as No. 2 in Eastern Tennis Section
• Undefeated in regular season High school matches for 6 years
• Made it to Quarterfinals of Supernational Hard Courts in Doubles
• Placed 4th in Florida Open

Rogers on Del Priore: “Rachel is a great girl who has yet to reach her full potential. She is an excellent doubles player and we are looking forward to seeing how good she can be. She is impossible not to like after meeting her and I think her determination makes her a great addition to our team.”
