Sunday evening’s Second Annual First Year Block Party offered new students an opportunity to meet coaches, learn about Virginia Athletics and join the “Sea of Orange” at Scott Stadium.
The 3000 plus new students were greeted by the Virginia Cheerleaders and received an Orange Fever t-shirt upon arriving. A video presentation gave the students a guided tour of the athletic facilities on Grounds and instructions on how to obtain admission to all competitions.
Coach Groh and Coach Gillen highlighted the evening by welcoming the students to the Grounds and, with the help of the cheerleaders, led the First Years in learning the traditional cheers and songs of UVA.
The Cavaliers open their home season in less than two weeks when they face North Carolina at 3:30 PM on September 11th at Scott Stadium. A limited number of season tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 800-924-UVA1 or online at virginiasports.com.
