Virginia Post-Game Notesat Temple, Sept. 4, 2004

– Tailback Wali Lundy has now scored 21 career touchdowns, 12 againstBig East opponents. He has scored four touchdowns against VirginiaTech, four against West Virginia, and one against Pittsburgh. Lundyhas seven multi-touchdown games in his career, including three in thelast six games.

– Tailback Alvin Pearman’s 70-yard punt return is the longest puntreturn for Virginia since Tiki Barber returned a punt 74 yards for atouchdown against NC State in 1996. The last time a Virginia playerreturned a punt for a touchdown was Marques Hagans‘ 69-yard returnagainst West Virginia in the 2002 Continental Tire Bowl.

– NT Andrew Hoffman and S Marquis Weeks combined on a sack in thesecond quarter. It was the first sack for both players.

– Linebacker Ahmad Brooks returned the opening kickoff 40 yards onthe first touch of his career.

– Defensive end Chris Johnson made a tackle on the first play of hisVirginia career.

– Wide receiver Michael McGrew returned to action today after missingall of last season with a broken leg. He had four receptions for 56yards. Three of his receptions went for first downs, and he had a44-yard reception to set up a two-yard touchdown run by Wali Lundy inthe first quarter.

– Quarterback Marques Hagans completed 17 of 22 passes for 211 yardsand one touchdown. His 17 completions and 211 yards passing arecareer highs. He also carried the ball five times for 25 yards andone touchdown.

– Tailback Wali Lundy rushed 25 times for 104 yards and threetouchdowns. Lundy has eight 100-yard rushing games in his career.

– Tight end Heath Miller had three receptions for 45 yards and onetouchdown. He now has 16 career touchdown receptions. Miller has atouchdown in each of the three season -opening games in which he hasplayed.

– Fullback Jason Snelling rushed six times for 36 yards and caughtone pass for seven yards. He red-shirted last season.

– Tailback Michael Johnson carried the ball seven times for 52 yardsand caught one pass for one yard. He red-shirted last season.
