MADISON, Wis. – University of Virginia volleyball players Alexis Geocaris (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) and Sarah Kirkwood (Tampa, Fla./Plant) have been selected to the InnTowner Invitational All-Tournament Team for their outstanding play over the weekend. The duo helped the Cavaliers to a 2-1 record and a second-place finish in the tournament, which was hosted by the University of Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday (September 17-18).
UVa fell to Wisconsin 3-0 in Friday night, but bounced back with identical 3-1 wins over Cincinnati and Marshall on Saturday to improve to 10-2 on the season.
Kirkwood led UVa in kills in all three matches and totaled 48 kills, 21 digs and nine block assists in 11 games. She tallied 20 kills and added five block assists in a 3-1 win over Cincinnati.
Geocaris registered 26 kills, 18 blocks and six digs in the tournament. Against both Cincinnati and Marshall, Geocaris had eight blocks.
On the season, Kirkwood has recorded 224 kills (5.21 kills per game) and a .326 hitting percentage. She also tops the team with 20 service aces. Geocaris leads the team with 50 blocks (1.22 per game) and is third with 122 kills (2.98 per game).
Virginia returns to action on Friday (September 24) when opens Atlantic Coast Conference play with a 7:00 p.m. match against Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C.
