The Virginia field hockey team (6-6) fell to #3 Maryland 5-0 today in ACC action at University Hall Turf Field. Cavalier keepers Katherine Blair and Logan Carr combined to make 18 saves as five different players notched goals for the Terrapins.

Maryland got on the board at 9:20 as Sara Silvetti scored on a direct corner with assists from Janneke van Leeuwen and Emily Beach. Seven minutes later Tiffany Marsh made it 2-0 as she scored off a scramble in front of the cage as Jackie Ciconte pushed the ball over to her. Ciconte scored herself off a feed from Lauren Powley witth just over four minutes to play in the half to make the score 3-0 at the break.

Powley then assisted a pair of goals two minutes apart in the second half as she fed Paula Infante (39:43) and then Colleen Barbieri (41:42) for a 5-0 Maryland lead.

The Cavaliers continue their homestand with a game against in-state rival Longwood on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 7:00.
