WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Virginia women’s tennis team concluded a strong performance this weekend at the Deacon Classic by winning three of the four singles flight championships and one of the two doubles flights.
In the Flight B championship match, a pair of Cavalier first-years met for the title, Rachel Del Priore (Williamsville, N.Y.) downed teammate Lindsey Pereira (Arlington, Texas) 6-3, 6-1. In the Flight C final, Marta Bechliwanis (Etobicoke, Ont.) defeated Lindsey Powel of Davidson, 6-2, 6-3, for the title. In Flight D, Lauren Bruch (Lake Forest, Ill.) defeated Virginia Tech’s Kate Harrington 6-3, 6-1 in the final.
The Cavaliers also captured the Flight B doubles crown. The team of Caroline Hammond (Williamsburg, Va.) and Lori Stern (Ojai, Calif.) defeated Blakely Offult and Alisha Talbot of Wake Forest 8-2 in the final.
