INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Second-year University of Virginia All-America swimmer Vanja Rogulj (Zagreb, Croatia/Split) finished 18th in the preliminaries of the 100-meter breaststroke Thursday (October 7) at the FINA World Championships at Conseco Fieldhouse. The World Championships are being contested in short course meters (25 meter pool).
Rogulj, an honorable mention All-American in the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the 2004 NCAA Championships, missed advancing to the semifinals by 13 hundredths of a second with his time of 1:01.11.
Rogulj, a 2004 Olympian for Croatia, continues competition in the seventh FINA World Championships on Saturday (October 9) when he swims in the prelims of the 200-meter breaststroke.
Virginia fourth-year first-team All-American Michael Raab (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) will compete in the 200-meter butterfly in the World Championships on Monday (October 11). Raab just missed making the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team as he finished third in the 200-meter butterfly at the Olympic Trials.
