Virginia Defeats McGill 83-46 In Montreal

MONTREAL – The University of Virginia men’s basketball team defeated McGill University 83-46 on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 10) in the final game of its trip to Canada. The Cavaliers won all three of their exhibition games during the Canadian trip.

Freshman guard Sean Singletary led UVa to its victory over McGill. Singletary scored 16 points, had five assists and five rebounds.

Sophomore guard J.R. Reynolds scored 12 points, senior forward/center Elton Brown had 10 points, and sophomore forward/guard Gary Forbes and freshman forward Adrian Joseph each scored nine points in the win.

The Cavaliers shot 48.4 percent (31-64) from the field and held McGill to 32.6 percent shooting from the field. Virginia led 41-20 at halftime.

Forward Gregory Rembeyo led McGill with 16 points.

UVa’s starting lineup against McGill was comprised of sophomore guard T.J. Bannister, sophomore forward Jason Cain, freshman center Tunji Soroye, Joseph and Singletary.
