Virginia’s Raab Finishes Sixth In 200 Butterfly At FINA World Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Fourth-year University of Virginia All-America swimmer Michael Raab (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) finished sixth in the finals of the 200-meter butterfly Monday (October 11) at the FINA World Championships at Conseco Fieldhouse. On Saturday (October 9), second-year Vanja Rogulj (Zagreb, Croatia/Split) finished 15th in the preliminaries of the 200-meter breaststroke. The World Championships, which featured more than 600 swimmers from over 100 countries, were contested in short course meters (25 meter pool).

Raab, a first-team All-American, placed sixth in the finals of the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 1:54.95. He was second after the prelims with a time of 1:55.05.

Rogulj, who placed 18th in the prelims of the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:01.11, finished 15th in the preliminaries of the 200-meter breast on Saturday in a time of 2:12.45. The top eight finishers in the prelims advanced to the finals.
