CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia women’s soccer player Shannon Foley (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week. The second-year midfielder was honored for her play in the Cavaliers’ 2-1 win over Duke on Saturday.
In the contest, Foley had her first multi-goal game of her career. Her goals in the 51st and 77th minutes helped hand the Blue Devils their first ACC loss of the season.
The honor is the second of the season for Foley, who was also honored by the publication on September 22. The honor also marks the fifth time in the past six weeks a cavalier has been named to the squad.
The #4 ranked Cavaliers (11-1-1, 3-1-1 ACC) return to action on Sunday as they have a showdown with #2 ranked North Carolina (13-0-1, 6-0-0 ACC) in Chapel Hill. Game time at Fetzer Field is 1:00 p.m.
