INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– – Craig Littlepage, athletics director at the University of Virginia, will serve as chair of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee during the 2005-06 academic year. The appointment was made by the committee and confirmed by the NCAA Championships/Competition Cabinet.
Littlepage’s term as chair will begin September 1, 2005. He will succeed Bob Bowlsby, director of athletics at the University of Iowa, who currently chairs the committee.
This year Littlepage will serve as the chair of the committee’s television subcommittee.
Littlepage has been athletics director at Virginia since 2001. He is a 1973 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he helped the Quakers’ basketball team to three consecutive Ivy League championships and three trips to the NCAA tournament.
He also was head basketball coach at Penn and at Rutgers in addition to having been an assistant coach at Villanova, Yale and Virginia. He is a native of LaMott, Pennsylvania.
