CHAPEL HILL, NC – The Virginia men’s tennis team concluded play at the ITA Mideast Region Championships. Rylan Rizza (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) reached the singles semifinals and the doubles semifinals with Nick Meythaler (Owensboro, Ky.).
In singles, No. 9 seeded Rizza reached the semifinals. He defeated Brad Pomeroy and Raian Luchici, both of North Carolina, in straight sets in the round of 16 and quarterfinals. His run came to an end in the semifinals with a loss to the No. 2 seed, Ludovic Walter of Duke.
In doubles, the team of Rizza and Meythaler were the No. 1 seed. The team defeated No. 9 seeded Zachary Rath and David North of Georgia Tech in the quarterfinals before falling to No. 4 seed Jonathan Stokke and Peter Rodrigues of Duke in the semifinals.
