Standing 14-5 and 3-2 in ACC play, Virginia has won 10 of its last 12 games. Senior Brandi Teamer leads the Cavaliers with 13.6 points per game while shooting 52 percent from the field. Senior LaTonya Blue follows with 11.3 ppg and a team-best 5.2 apg. Senior Jocelyn Logan-Friend adds 9.5 ppg and a team-best 6.5 rpg.

The Hokies, under the guidance of first-year head coach Beth Dunkenberger, stand 12-5 overall and 2-3 in the ACC after 81-78 double overtime loss to No. 24 Florida State in Blacksburg on Monday. Senior Erin Gibson is the team leader with 11.8 ppg. Junior Carrie Mason follows with 10.6 ppg, while junior Kerri Gardin adds 10.4 ppg and a team-best 7.2 rpg.

Virginia holds a 25-8 series advantage over long-time intra-state rival Virginia Tech; however, this is the first meeting between the teams as ACC opponents. Last season, the Hokies escaped with a 63-62 upset win over No. 24 Virginia, marking Tech’s first win at University Hall since 1974. From this season forward, the Cavaliers and Hokies will meet twice during ACC regular-season play.

The No. 21/19 Seminoles, under the guidance of eighth-year head coach Sue Semrau, are riding a five-game ACC win streak to stand 18-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference. Florida State upset No. 23 Virginia Tech on Jan. 24, 81-78 (2ot). Senior Roneeka Hodges paces the team with 19.5 ppg. Sophomore Alicia Gladden adds 12.1 ppg and a team-best 7.1 rpg. Junior Ganiyat Adeduntan, this week’s ACC Player of the Week, contributes 10.2 ppg. FSU travels to Miami on Jan. 27 prior to hosting UVa.

Virginia stands 25-4 against Florida State in series action since 1990. Last season, the teams split a two-game series with each capturing a road win. In Tallahassee on Jan. 23, 2004, UVa went to overtime for a 82-80 road win. The Seminoles also won by two, 73-71 in Charlottesville on Feb. 22, 2004.
