Carly Truitt Wins Bubba Conlee National Jr. Tourney

OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. – The University of Virginia women’s golf recruit Carly Truitt (Marysville, Ohio) won the 2005 Bubba Conlee National Junior Tournament at the Cherokee Valley Golf Club on June 9.
Truitt shot the best score in each round to finish with a two-under 142 (71-71), seven strokes better than her closest competitor.
Entering her first year at UVa in the fall of 2005, Truitt won the 2002 and 2003 Ohio High School State Championship for Marysville High School. A three-time first-team All-Ohio honoree, she is a four-time first-team All-Conference selection. Named the Ohio Capital Conference Player of the Year three times, Truitt also earned Ohio Capital Conference Scholar Athlete accolades four times. Recognized as the Ohio High Magazine’s 2003 Woman of the Year in girls’ golf, Truitt holds the Marysville school records for nine holes (32) and 18 holes (67).
In addition to playing for her high school, Truitt has extensive state and national junior experience. She is ranked as the top female golfer in Ohio by GolfWeek/Titleist Rankings and National Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings. At the Ohio Junior Girls’ Championship, Truitt captured first place in 2001 and finished second in 2002. She won the Champion of Pepsi Little Peoples Championship in 2001 and 2003 and recorded a Top 10 finish at the Westfield PGA Junior National Championship in 2002.
Overall, Truitt has seven Top 10 finishes in AJGA tournaments, including finishing second in the 2003 Kroger Invitational, 2004 Midwest Junior Championship, and the 2004 Buick Junior Open. Named a Polo Junior All-American, Truitt also earned Hp Scholastic Junior All-American honors.
Truitt is a member of the National Honor Society and an officer in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is the senior class treasurer and a student council representative. In her free time, Truitt volunteers at the Central Ohio Stand and Deliver Mentoring Program.
