Virginia’s Matt Althoff Elected To Director’s Position With The Athletic Equipment Managers Association

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Matt Althoff, the director of equipment room operations at the University of Virginia, has been elected the District Two Director for the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA). District Two members of the AEMA elected Althoff to the position.

“This election to the AEMA Board is one of our association’s most important internal positions,” AEMA President Dale L. Strauf of Cornell University wrote in a letter to Virginia Senior Associate Athletics Director Jon Oliver. “The entire athletic community at the University of Virginia should be very proud of this accomplishment. Through hard work and dedication to our association, Matt has earned this position.

“His dedication to our profession is outstanding. I speak for our entire association in congratulating Matt on this accomplishment.”

Althoff is beginning his second year as Virginia’s director of equipment room operations. He directs, plans, organizes and implements all of the operational, financial and personnel activities involved in equipment management for all 25 of Virginia’s sports. He is responsible for equipment purchases, inventory and distribution.

Prior to being named to his current position, Althoff was head football equipment manager at UVa for three years and an assistant football equipment manager for three years.

Althoff is a 1998 graduate of Old Dominion University with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. He is a certified equipment manager.
