KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- The Virginia men’s golf team finished 10th at theTournament of Champions on Tuesday.
Tennessee captured the team title with a 818 (-34), while Alabama wassecond with a distant 850 (-2). The Cavaliers shot a 297 in the final roundfor a 866 (+14) total.
Tennessee’s Lloyd Campbell and Philip Pettitt dominated the tournament,finishing tied for first with a 12-under 201 total. Alabama’s MarkHarrell finished third with a 201 (-9) overall.
Freshman Conrad Von Borsig (Swarthmore, Pa.) lead the Cavaliers, finishing17th with a 74 in the final round for 213 (E) total. Senior CarterHenderson (Nashville, Tenn.) tied for 22nd, after firing a 71 in the finalround with a 215 (+2) overall. Senior Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) shot a75 in the final round to finish with a 216 (+3) to tie for 25th place.Freshman Daniel Kefale (Woodbridge, Va.) carded a 222 (+9) to tie for 52nd,while sophomore Daniel McGurk (Woodlands, Texas) rounded out the UVascoring card with a 234 (+21).
Virginia will compete against Mason Rudolph on Sept.30-Oct. 1 in Nashville, T.N.
