Today’s Game: The Cavaliers return to action for the first time in a week as they visit No. 14 Boston College on Thursday. Virginia has not played since a 4-0 win at Virginia Tech last Thursday and enter the game with an 11-3-1 record, 6-1-0 in the ACC, a half game behind North Carolina for first place in the conference. The Eagles downed NC State 1-0 on Sunday in their last game to improve to 10-3-1 on the season and 3-3-0 in the ACC.

The Series: Thursday’s game marks the third all-time meeting between the schools, but the first as conference foes. Boston College leads the series 1-0-1, but the schools have not met since 1988. The Eagles topped Virginia 3-0 in 1985 and the teams played to a 2-2 tie in 1988.

Looking For Seventh ACC Win: A win on Thursday would be the Cavaliers’ seventh ACC win of the season, a school record. The previous high came last season when Virginia went 6-2-1 in conference play. North Carolina is the only program to ever reach the seven win plateau in the history of the conference.

Strong ACC Start: The Cavaliers are 6-1 in the ACC for the first time in history. Already this season, UVa opened the ACC season 4-0 for the first time in school history. Previously, the best starts to a conference season for the Cavaliers came in 1998 and 1999 when UVa started 3-0 in the ACC (UVa was also 5-1 in 1998).
