Despite drawing more corners than Richmond in the second half, the Cavaliers fell to the Spiders 1-0 today (Oct 26) in Charlottesville. Richmond (12-5) scored at 63:40 off a broken corner for the only goal in the game, giving them the 1-0 victory. The two teams played 63 minutes of scoreless hockey before UR’s Lesley Russell tipped in a deflection off a broken corner to break the 0-0 tie.

The Cavaliers’ Katherine Blair made four saves in the game and had a number of clears as the Spiders attempted to attack the circle, but Blair routinely cleared the ball out of harm’s way.

Virginia returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 30 as they host the Blue Devils of Duke. Game time is 1:00.
