Today’s Game: The Cavaliers close out the regular season Saturday as they host NC State. Virginia enters the game with a 12-4-1 overall record and 7-2-0 conference mark after downing Maryland 2-0 last Sunday. A win Saturday would give the Cavaliers second place in the ACC. NC State is 6-11-0 overall and 2-7-0 in the ACC after a 3-1 loss to Clemson on Sunday. The Wolfpack are fighting for one of the final spots in next week’s ACC Tournament.
The Series: Saturday’s game is the 28th meeting between the schools with the Cavaliers holding a 15-11-1 advantage in the series. Virginia has won the last ten meetings in the series and has shutout the Wolfpack in each of the last five meetings.
Senior Day: Prior to Saturday’s game, the final regular season home game, the team will honor the three senior members of the team, Kelly Hammond, Sarah Huffman, and Noelle Keselica. The trio has totalled 58 goals and 65 assists over the past four seasons and led the Cavaliers to a 53-19-9 record. Over the past seven years, the Cavaliers have a 6-1 record on Senior Day.
Soccer Doubleheader: Following Saturday’s game against NC State, the Virginia men’s soccer team will host Virginia Tech. It is the only soccer doubleheader this season for the Virginia soccer teams. Since 2001, there have been nine soccer doubleheaders at Klockner Stadium. On those dates, the women’s soccer team has a 7-1-1 record while the men’s team in 9-0-0.
