Charlottesville, VA – The Virginia women’s golf team will be represented by its B-Squad at this week’s JMU/Bonnie Hoover Invitational hosted by James Madison April 8-9. Tee times start at 8 a.m. on both days. The 54-hole tournament will take place at the par-72, 6,046-yard Lakeview Golf Course in Harrisonburg.
The Cavalier “Blue Squad” will consist of Lindsay Robinson, Sally Shonk, Kristen Simpson, Ashley Mayo and Kira May. Two weeks ago they placed third at the William and Mary Invitational. Shonk and Robinson led the UVa golfers by tying for 14th at 13-over 157 at the 36-hole event. Simpson was 17th at 158 while Kira Mayo was 34th at 164. Ashley Mayo placed 55th at 170.
In addition to the Cavaliers and Dukes, the field for this year’s tournament includes: Appalachian State, Columbia, Elon, Georgetown, James Madison, Methodist, Long Island, Longwood, Notre Dame, Penn State, Princeton, Rutgers, William & Mary and Xavier.
Princeton captured last year’s championship led by medalist Avery Kiser (217).
