Virginia’s Nikki Lieb , Tyler Leachman and Blair Weymouth Honored

Virginia’s Nikki Lieb, Tyler Leachman, and Blair Weymouth were all named to the Tewaaraton Trophy Watchlist, as released by the Tewaaraton Foundation earlier this week. Lieb was also named to the national honor roll by womenslacrosse.com and earned honorable mention National Player of the Week honors by insidelacrosse.com, while Leachman was named the ACC Player of the Week.

Lieb had nine draw controls in two games last week while adding four ground balls and four caused turnovers in the two wins. After notching two goals and an assist in the Mason game, Lieb was a part of the first five goals of the game against Virginia Tech, notching a goal and four assists as the Cavaliers bolted out to a 5-0 lead. She currently leads the team in caused turnovers (20) and is second in draw controls (32) and third in ground balls (33). Her 125 career draw controls ranks fourth all-time at Virginia.

Leachman’s sixth draw of the game against Mason was the 100th of her career, and she now ranks tenth all-time at Virginia with 101. Leachman notched four assists in both games last week, giving her six goals and eight assists in the two games. She added three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Leachman, whose 243 career points ranks fourth all-time at UVa, leads Virginia in scoring in 2006 with 69 points on 42 goals and 27 assists.

Weymouth is having one of the top rookie campaigns in school history in 2006. She ranks second on the team with 60 points on 41 goals and 19 assists, which is the third-highest point total in school history for a first year. She already ranks second all-time in assists as a second year and she tied the record for assists in a game as a first year with her five in the win over James Madison.

The Cavaliers, ranked fourth in the nation, take on third-ranked Georgetown on the road on Wednesday, April 18. Game time against the Hoyas is 3:45 pm.
