The Virginia men led all schools with three qualifiers each in the 800 and 1500, with both Kevin McHale and Alex Tatu qualifying for the finals in both events. The men also scored more points in the steeplechase than any other school as Soeren Lindner took home second and Jan Foerster finished sixth, with Foerster’s time moving him up to the No. 10 position all-time at UVa. Billie Jo Grant took home fourth in the shot put in a personal best mark that moved her up to the No. 2 position all-time at Virginia. Erin Crawford led all qualifiers with her 57.81 in the intermediate hurdles.

McHale and Tatu both doubled into the finals of the 800 and 1500m runs, while Jordan Orr will join them in the two-lapper while Andrew Jesien will compete in the 1500m. In the steeplechase, Lindner’s 8:54.37 and Foerster’s 9:04.67 qualified both men for the NCAA Regional meet; Foerster also moves up into the No. 10 slot all-time for UVa men in the steeplechase.

David Lewis finished seventh in the decathlon, thanks in large part to his posting a vault of 15′ 9″. Lewis not only won the pole vault portion of the decathlon but also set a personal best mark that moved him up into the No. 7 position all-time in Virginia history.

Isi Azeke had a strong day for the Cavaliers, setting a personal best mark in the long jump with his 6.91m (22′ 8″) and tying his season best mark in the 110 hurdles.

Grant’s throw of 48′ 10.25″ was the best throw of her career and moved her into the No. 2 position all-time in Virginia history. Other scorers today included Tomika Ferguson, who took eighth in the long jump with a 19′ 4.25″. Ashley Gore tied the top Virginia mark this season in the 400m and qualified for the finals in that event. Erin Crawford led all runners in the intermediates with her 58.71.

Talia Wise just missed qualifying for the finals of the 100m by .004, while Lauren Echko ran a non-wind-aided personal best 13.93 but did not qualify for the finals despite tying her at No. 3 in the all-time list of the high hurdles. Danielle Light and Sara Casscells both ran sub-2:12’s in the 800m (2:11.23, 2:11.38) to notch personal best time but did not qualify for the finals.
